Valley Presbyterian Church

I John 1:1-2  We declare to you what was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, the Word of life - this life was revealed, and we have seen it and testify to it, and declare to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us.

Edwin Chr. van Driel is the intern at Valley Presbyterian Church. As his day job, he teaches theology at Fordham University in the Bronx. A native of Rotterdam, the Netherlands, he holds master degrees in theology and philosophy from Utrecht University, the Netherlands, and a M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. in religious studies (theology) from Yale University. Edwin wrote several academic and populair theological articles and Oxford University Press publishes his first book this summer: Incarnation Anyway. In this book he analyzes and defends the idea that God did not just become human in order to take care of the sin problem, but that God has more motives for the incarnation, the most important of which is love: God created humans in order to gain a love relationship with them, and in this relationship God comes as close to them as God can, by becoming human himself. Edwin is also a chaplain at the Lutheran Home in Soutbury and is married to Kimberly Miller van Driel, a pastor in the ELCA.

Now that Valley has a resident theology professor maybe you have a question or two! Go ahead and ask, he'll answer.

"What questions would you ask about God, our faith, or our church, and why do you ask
that question?"
